Registration Continues
Advising was Tuesday March 2nd. If you are a VCOM student planning to take classes this summer or next fall you need to get your access code for registration from your advisor. Any student with an access code can register. Here is a list of fall and spring only classes for VCOM.
IF A CLASS IS FULL - if a class is full and you need it/want to take it in the fall, contact Connie or DeAnn to get on a list. This will help us determine if there is enough of a need to justify creating another section.

Today -The Devastating Consequences of Drinking and Driving
Backstrom family members share their personal tragedy
The world of the Backstrom family was forever changed October 10, 2004, when they heard the words, “We’re sorry to inform you…”
Three of their five sons were dead—Matthew, 20, Justin, 17, and Jacob, 16—the victims of an alcohol-related crash, their lives cut short by the conduct of a stranger who chose to drink too much and talk on a cell phone while driving a motor vehicle erratically and too fast.
What would you do if a loved one was killed due to the unlawful decisions of a total stranger?
Since the crash, the Backstroms have shared their story at mock crashes, high schools, churches and special events, hoping that by putting real faces on the victims, they might help others grasp the terrible reality of drunk driving.
It’s not just a number: Real people die every year in alcohol-related crashes.
Please, come to a presentation by the Backstrom family Thursday, March 11, 2010, from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Dakota Room (1-520) to learn more about their experiences.
Sponsored by the DCTC Student Senate, DCTC Student Life and the DCTC Counseling Office.

Textbooks removed from Bookstore March 16th
Please notify your students that textbook returns will begin March 16th for any classes that had a start date of Feb. 5th or before. If a student needs to purchase a book after we’ve returned our stock to the publisher, the student will need to pre-pay for the book and pay the shipping charges. Students will then be notified when the book(s) arrive.
Make sure your D2L email address is correct
If your instructor needs to contact you due to class cancellation or some other reason they often use your D2L email as a quick easy way to get it done. If you don't have an email listed that you check, then you may be out of the loop. Check it and change it, if you need to, as soon as possible and you won't have to worry about missing anything.

Industry Day links
Here are some links mentioned during industry that you might like to try
PHOTOGRAPHERS!!
Need a tripod or light meter? Or other photo equipment like studio lights accessories, wireless flash triggers like Pocket Wizards, camera cases and backpacks, or monitor calibrations tools. A program called MAC-ON_CAMPUS (MOC) offers big discounts to students taking photography courses at DCTC. Don’t buy until you have checked out the discounts. All you need is your student ID, an application, and a signature from your photo instructor and then you can order the equipment from National Camera, West photo, Castle Distributing and save lots of money, sometime s up to 40% off of retail price. Be sure to ask your photo instructor about the program, they have brochures available. Website is mac-on-campus.com
